The man got his knee stuck when he stumbled while scaling a cliff in Indian Creek, Utah, according to officials.
According to officials, a climber in Utah was saved on Friday night after he fell down a rock face and got his knee stuck in a crevice for twelve hours.
The male climber became lost on the Generic Crack climbing route close to Indian Creek around 8 p.m., according to San Juan County Search and Rescue.
When his climbing partners were unable to free him on their own, they requested help.
Upon reaching the cliff site, the response team concluded that the Classic Air Medical helicopter was necessary to transport rescuers to the cliff’s summit, enabling them to descend via rappelling to the stranded climber.
Despite several hours of efforts, the rescuers were unable to free the climber on their own and called for assistance from Grand County Search and Rescue. The added support from these officials played a crucial role in successfully liberating the climber and ensuring his safe return to the ground.
The man, who was caught on the rock face for about 12 hours, fortunately sustained only minor injuries. San Juan County Search and Rescue expressed their gratitude in a statement, saying, “A huge thank you to our partners Classic Air Medical and Grand County SAR. Without their help, this rescue would not have been possible.”
