Career
Corbin Franklin Carroll, a standout baseball player, has had a notable journey in the sport. He was a key member of the USA 18U National Team that clinched the Gold medal in the 2018 COPABE Pan-American Championships. Carroll attended Lakeside School in Seattle, Washington, where he demonstrated remarkable skill in baseball. In his senior year, 2019, he achieved an impressive .540 batting average with nine home runs and a 1.859 OPS. His talents led him to commit to playing college baseball at UCLA.
However, his college career took a turn when the Arizona Diamondbacks selected Carroll with the 16th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. He signed with the Diamondbacks for $3.7 million and commenced his professional career with the Arizona League Diamondbacks. Carroll showed promise in his debut season, batting .291 with two home runs, 14 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases over 31 games. His performance earned him a promotion to the Hillsboro Hops on August 8. With Hillsboro, he continued to excel, batting .326 with six RBIs in 11 games. Across both teams, he finished the season with a .299/.409/.487 batting line in 154 at-bats, stealing 18 bases in 19 attempts.
The 2020 minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, putting a temporary halt to Carroll’s progress. He returned to Hillsboro for the 2021 season but suffered a shoulder injury early in May while hitting a home run, which necessitated season-ending surgery. Before the injury, he was batting an exceptional .435 for the season.
In 2022, Carroll started the season with the Amarillo Sod Poodles and was later promoted to the Reno Aces in early July. Over the course of the year with three minor league teams, he maintained a strong batting average of .307/.425/.611 in 362 at-bats, hitting 24 home runs and successfully stealing 31 bases in 36 attempts.
