HOW TO PREPARE CURRYWURST.

Currywurst is a popular German street food, especially in Berlin. It’s essentially a pork sausage (usually steamed and then fried) that’s sliced and doused with a ketchup-based sauce spiced with curry powder. It’s typically served with a side of fries. Here’s a basic recipe for currywurst:

Ingredients:
4 Bratwurst or other German pork sausages
1 tbsp oil (for frying)
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp curry powder (adjust to taste)
2 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp sugar (or to taste)
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
Extra curry powder for sprinkling
Instructions:
Cook the Sausages:

Steam the bratwursts: In a pan, add a small amount of water (just enough to cover the base) and place the sausages inside. Cover and steam over medium heat until they’re fully cooked.
In a frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Fry the steamed bratwursts until they are browned on all sides.
Prepare the Curry Sauce:

In a saucepan, combine ketchup, water, curry powder, paprika, onion powder, sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
Stir well and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit more water. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more curry powder, sugar, or salt if desired.
Serve:

Once the sausages are browned and cooked through, remove them from the frying pan and slice them into bite-sized pieces.
Pour the prepared curry sauce over the sliced sausages.
Sprinkle with additional curry powder to taste.
Side Dish:

Currywurst is traditionally served with fries. You can either buy pre-made fries or make them from scratch. If making them from scratch, simply cut potatoes into fry shapes, season with salt, and fry in oil until golden and crispy.
Enjoy your homemade Currywurst!

Tip: The sauce can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for a few days. The flavors will deepen and meld together even more, making for an even tastier dish when you’re ready to use it.
