You’re really missing out if you haven’t visited Las Hefas Latin Cuisine in downtown Hays yet. Located at 224 W 11th St, it is unquestionably one of the greatest places in town to get real Mexican and Latin American cuisine. I’ve had several meals there, and each time the food is really good. The owner, Israel Luna, based the entire concept on his mother’s traditional recipes, and every bite reflects that love of home cooking.
The sopes and arepas, along with their homemade tortillas, are simply amazing. Unbelievable. Not to mention the Mexican street corn, which is one of those foods that you keep thinking about for days after eating it. The staff is always incredibly cordial and well-organized, and the place has a cozy, laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel completely at home. It’s no surprise that hundreds of satisfied customers have given them a 4.9 out of 5 rating.
