The District Attorney and Police are considering bringing a domestic abuse charge against the former girlfriend of Jonathan Majors.

A senior official briefed on the case told NBC News that police had discussed with the district attorney’s office the possibility of charging Jonathan Majors’ ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, with domestic abuse. This development emerged on the eve of Majors’ upcoming court date regarding assault charges.

However, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office has indicated in court filings that they have ceased considering this matter since it first came up in September.

The prosecution communicated to the NYPD on September 8 and September 12, 2023, their decision not to pursue any charges filed by the NYPD against Ms. Jabbari related to the delayed accusations made by Majors about the incident on March 25, 2023.

The complaint further notes that on September 21, the Manhattan D.A.’s office informed Jabbari’s lawyer that they would not be prosecuting any charges against her brought by the NYPD.

It appears from the filing that Jabbari won’t be facing any criminal charges in this instance.

According to a law enforcement official, as first reported by The Messenger, Jabbari may face charges of third-degree domestic violence, a misdemeanor, from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the New York Police Department.

The official stated that it was unclear when the claims were made or if Jabbari would turn himself in to the authorities.

This news emerges just a few hours before Jonathan Majors is due in court regarding his March arrest for allegedly assaulting Grace Jabbari. Initially, he faced charges of misdemeanor assault.

Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, has consistently stated that her client is innocent and claims that it was Majors who was actually assaulted.

It is reported that Majors will not be present at the hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

Comments from the attorneys representing Jabbari and Majors were not immediately available.

At the time of Majors’ arrest, police reported that Jabbari had “minor injuries to her head and neck” following an altercation with Majors in a taxi, and she was taken to a hospital in stable condition. Jabbari and Majors had been in a relationship for several years before this incident.

The New York Times reported in June that the NYPD had sufficient evidence to arrest Jabbari, a claim her lawyer contested at the time.

Before these allegations, Majors, who hails from California and is a Yale alumnus, experienced a swift rise to fame in Hollywood. He has featured in films like “Creed III,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” and the 2019 independent movie “The Last Black Man in San Francisco.”
